We are delighted to be re opening both our Churches – but it will be different – a new normal!
From Sunday 19th July (and every Sunday onwards) a service will be held at St Hilda’s Church at 10.00am.
Holy Communion Services (wafer only) at St Hilda’s church will be at 10.00am on Sunday 18th October, 15th November and 6th December 2020
From Sunday 26th July (and every Sunday onwards) a service will be held at St Francis Church at 9.00am
Holy Communion Services (wafer only) at St Francis church will be at 10.00am on Sunday 25th October, 22nd November and 27th December 2020
Services will be at social distance spacing – they will only be a “said” service without hymns but probably some music – please dress warmly as we shall be ventilating the buildings – face masks are required by law- you will be stewarded into & out of Church
It will all be different but in a few weeks we will be used to the new format – come and join us – you will be very welcome
However, if you are shielding – are vulnerable or simply not ready to “mix” out of your own “bubble” our Vicar, Revd. Ian Jamieson will be continuing to provide services on line
A 10.30am Sunday service is broadcast on the Friends of St Francis & St Hilda’s Facebook Group page and also on YouTube at our 3 churches together channel. Please contact Ian with any queries/instructions on how to join the group (01484 427838).
A Service of Holy Communion will also be available on Facebook and You Tube (as above) on Thursdays
We will continue to pray for everyone affected globally and especially for our Cowcliffe & Fixby communities.
At St Hilda’s Church we have 3 initiatives which are raising monies for our Building Fund and as anyone who has visited us over the last 12 months knows, we are desperate to redecorate the main body of the Church.
1. Jennifer (Moore) is making face masks. They have a cotton front & back with flannel in the middle and they are available for a donation of £4 each. There are 2 sizes, large & small. Should you want any of the face masks, you can either visit Ma Baker’s sandwich shop on the Bradford Road near the Fartown traffic lights (open 0900 to 1200 Monday to Friday) or contact Colin on 07787 518483 and he will arrange a “safe distance” home delivery within the Fixby, Cowcliffe and Bradley areas.
2. Rita is making preserves (jams & jellies ++)
3. and Joyce will undertake sewing alterations both for a donation towards the Building Fund. Details are in the newsletter below
